Tycoons are one of the most popular kinds of Roblox game, and for good reason. Players love watching a tiny plot turn into a huge base, and the "just one more upgrade" feeling keeps them playing. The problem is that hundreds of tycoons look exactly the same: a dropper, a conveyor, a wall of green buttons.
This list is here to help you build a tycoon that people remember. Every idea comes with what you sell, how the base grows, and one twist that makes it different. Steal any of them, mix them together, or roll your own on the tycoon idea generator.
What makes a tycoon fun?
Before the ideas, here are the three things every good tycoon gets right:
- A clear first minute. New players should claim a plot, press a button, and earn money in under 60 seconds.
- Upgrades you can see. A new floor, a bigger machine, or a glowing sign feels much better than "+10% income."
- Something to show off. Players want friends to visit their base, so give them decorations, pets, or a rooftop to stand on.
Keep those in mind as you read. If an idea doesn't have all three yet, that's your chance to add them.
Food and shop tycoons
- Pizza Planet Tycoon. Build a pizza shop on a tiny planet. Ovens drop pizzas, delivery rockets carry them off, and each upgrade adds a new topping machine. Twist: the planet spins, so your shop moves through day and night.
- Ice Cream Parlor Tycoon. Scoops roll down a waffle-cone slide. Unlock new flavors and freezer rooms. Twist: if you forget to upgrade the freezers, the ice cream starts melting into a slippery floor.
- Bakery Tycoon. Bake bread, cakes, and giant birthday cakes for NPC customers. Twist: special orders appear for a few minutes each, and players race to finish them.
- Fast Food Kitchen Tycoon. Start with one grill and grow into a drive-through empire. Twist: friends can work in your kitchen to double your speed.
- Toy Store Tycoon. Build toys on a conveyor, then sell them on shelves that customers walk past. Twist: some toys come alive at night and wander off.
Adventure and fantasy tycoons
- Dragon Valley Tycoon. Raise baby dragons that breathe out gold coins. Bigger nests mean bigger dragons. Twist: you have to protect a baby dragon from a sneaky thief NPC.
- Wizard Academy Tycoon. Build classrooms that make spell scrolls. Twist: each new classroom unlocks a spell you can actually use around the map.
- Pirate Cove Tycoon. Your dropper is a treasure cannon, and your base is a ship you build one deck at a time. Twist: other players can raid your treasure chest, so you build defenses.
- Jungle Temple Tycoon. Dig deeper into a temple and unlock new rooms full of ancient treasure machines. Twist: every room has a small puzzle you solve once to open it.
- Viking Village Tycoon. Grow a village from one longhouse to a whole harbor. Twist: winter arrives every ten minutes and slows every machine unless you build fire pits.
Science and space tycoons
- Moon Base Tycoon. Mine moon rocks with low gravity, so everything bounces. Twist: oxygen tanks are an upgrade path you can't ignore.
- Robot Factory Tycoon. Build robots on an assembly line, then send them to work in your base. Twist: robots you build become helpers that collect cash for you.
- Secret Lab Tycoon. Brew strange (and silly) potions that turn into money. Twist: every potion has a random side effect, like making the player tiny for ten seconds.
- Rocket Launch Tycoon. Build a launch pad, then bigger and bigger rockets. Twist: each launch is a mini-event the whole server can watch.
- Weather Station Tycoon. Make rain, snow, and rainbows in jars. Twist: the weather you make changes the weather in your base.
Silly and unusual tycoons
- Backyard Tycoon. You're a bug building a city under the grass. Twist: a giant lawn mower passes by on a timer, and you have to protect your stuff.
- Snow Globe Tycoon. Your whole base is inside a snow globe on a shelf. Twist: when someone shakes the shelf, everything shuffles.
- Retro Arcade Tycoon. Unlock classic arcade machines that each have a tiny playable mini-game. Twist: high scores in your own mini-games boost your income.
- Penguin Iceberg Tycoon. Fish, slide, and build an ice palace for your penguin crew. Twist: your iceberg slowly drifts and melts unless you keep upgrading.
- Theme Park Tycoon. Build rides that other players can actually ride. Twist: the more players ride your coaster, the more money it makes.
Want more? Every idea on the generator can lock a part and reroll the rest. Lock Tycoon as the genre and keep rolling until a setting makes you say "oh, that's cool."
How to make your tycoon stand out
Give the dropper a personality
A grey brick that drops yellow cubes is fine for learning. For a real game, make the dropper fit your theme. A pizza oven, a dragon, or a cannon is much more fun to look at, even if the code underneath is the same.
Pace the upgrades
Make early buttons cheap and quick. After that, each new button should cost a little more than the last one. If players wait more than a minute or two with nothing to buy, they leave. Write your prices in a list before you build, then play through it yourself with a timer.
Add a reason to come back
Tycoons are great for daily rewards, rebirths (start over with a permanent boost), and limited-time machines. Even one of these gives players a reason to rejoin tomorrow.
Keep Game Passes fair
Good tycoon passes save time or add style: 2x Cash, auto-collect, a VIP decoration pack, or a special pet. Avoid selling things that let paying players wreck other players' bases. Fair games get better reviews and more players. If you're a kid, always ask a parent before setting up anything that sells items.
How to start building
The simplest tycoon needs three parts and two scripts: a claim pad, a dropper with a collector under it, and a leaderstats script for Cash. Every idea page on this site has a Build it in Studio plan with those starter scripts ready to copy. Try this Pizza Planet tycoon idea and open its build plan.
If you're brand new to Roblox Studio, start with our guide on making your first obby. It teaches parts, anchoring, and scripts, which you'll use in every tycoon. And if you can't decide which idea to build, read how to pick a Roblox game idea you'll actually finish.
